The QPE Movement

We are looking forward to another great week of professional development around the United States. Focused Fitness Trainers lead customized curriculum, activity, and WELNET trainings from coast to coast. This week you can find us increasing Quality Physical Education (#QPE) in Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin.

We are especially looking forward to sharing the Five for Life program with Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) in Connecticut. Their Coordinator of Fitness and Health Education, Chris Wanner, is excited to implement the Five for Life program with her teachers because of its unique integration of movement and academic content. Chris wants to bring the best resources to her teachers so they can then provide their students with the tools necessary to lead a happy, healthy, and active life. CREC showcased this week’s Five for Life training in their PE and Health January Newsletter to let the community know that health and fitness is a top priority!

We have hit the ground running in 2015 and we can’t wait to continue our journey of increasing #QPE across the country. Fitness and Health Academic Content can and should be integrated into Physical Education without compromising activity time. This is important because if a student doesn’t know why they are doing something (like running the mile) then they are not going to be very likely to want to do it on their own. Our job as educators is to supply students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in the activities they choose to do. That is why we believe content is king!

Mishicot has the ‘Heart of a Champion’

Mishicot School District is located in Mishicot, Wisconsin. They are in their second year of a Physical Education for Progress (PEP) grant. Focused Fitness is proud to be a partner in developing QPE in the district. At the last training Chris Krepline spoke with us about one way he motivates and inspires students. The picture is their “Heart of a Champion” belt. Chris had this made to give to students who prove that they have the heart of a champion by achieving goals, helping fellow students, teachers or staff, or if they just have a positive attitude. (Chris gives it for a variety of reasons) The student keeps/wears it for a day.

Thank You Royall School District

We want to give a shout out to Royall School District. They worked on Curriculum at our headquarters three days this week. They made excellent progress and their PE program benefited tremendously from the work they completed at Focused Fitness. Having a comprehensive curriculum, that aligns with a thorough curriculum map creates the foundation for a strong and sustainable Physical Education Program. We are proud to be partners with the great teachers of Royall School District.

Middleton, ID Moving and Sharing

Middleton School District rocked their activity training! Focused Fitness showed them some of the new and innovative equipment options for fitness. We also demoed Wii and Xbox Kinect to see if that is a tool they could utilize to promote healthy, active lifestyles. The teachers that went to the SHAPE America National Conference in St. Louis had the opportunity to share back some of the ideas they pulled from the conference. As usual, Middleton is moving into the future with power and passion!Vikings working hard Sandbells Rockin' it Collaboration Jungle Gym Exercise Progressions birdie talk Nationals share back SHAPE America Share Back Indo Board Balance Healthy Lunch jab, jab, hook Xbox Kinect
