Part of growing up is winning and losing. Coach Dave Belisle’s team was eliminated from the Little League World Series…but that is not what this post is about. This post is about the way he handled the loss and what he had to say to his young players following the emotional game. He spoke to them in a way that they could relate, reflect, and remember how great their team was. One of the quotes we liked the most was when coach Belisle said:
“Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is learning how to lose. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.”
We would like to take a second to thank all of you coaches and teachers out there that are helping kids feel good about who they are by staying healthy, active, and happy!
