Caldwell, Idaho- Still Rockin’ and Rollin’

Caldwell School District is a great example of physical education teachers that are willing to go the extra mile. Since receiving their PEP grant in 2009, their wellness push has grown tremendously. Not only has it grown across the district, but the entire community as well. Their articulated Five for Life curriculum in physical education allows their students to grow mentally and physical as they move through the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Focused Fitness is proud to be a part of a district that is able to sustain growth in their physical education programs.

One of the many ways that Caldwell goes the extra mile is through the use of technology. Three of the elementary schools in the district have PE blogs. The blogs are regularly updated to keep the kids and parents engaged and informed. Check them out by clicking the links below.

Dance Your Little Heart Out

Find time to dance this week! Dancing is one of the easiest ways to get your blood pumping, which increases the amount of oxygen to the brain. In a round about way, dancing makes you smarter! Even if it is just for a  few minutes, make an opportunity to dance, to be expressive, and to be active. We all have our own ways to be artistic and creative, which makes us each unique. Get creative, be artistic, and toss any embarrassment to the side this week…DANCE!

The Employee Fitness Program (EFP) at Focused Fitness is an option to take 30 minutes out of your work day to exercise with your peers. We practice what we preach! Running a Marathon Every Day

Janette Murray-Wakelin, 64, and Alan Murray, 68, ran a marathon (26.2 miles) each and everyday in 2013. They finished their 365 th consecutive marathon on Dec. 31 in Melbourne. Yesterday they ran their 366 th consecutive marathon.

Their website documents their runs, experiences, and diet (raw vegan) along the wonderful journey they shared together.
